Almost everyone believes that its impossible to find bartending jobs when you have little or no experience.
Obviously, this is true for some of establishments in the industry some of the time, but it’s definitely not true for all of the bars all of the time.
So then the question becomes… How do you get experience to get a job when you’re first starting out?
You can’t.
No one can.
It boils down to one simple fact…
It is impossible to EVER start with experience.
Right?
Unless you can magically be born with 2 years bartending experience on your resume; it is simply impossible to have any experience the first time you look for a job.
Even the best bartenders in the world working at the hottest clubs had to get started somewhere before they had any experience.
This simple fact should completely level the playing field for you in your mind…
Why?
Because you have no more, and no less experience than any bartender has ever had when first starting out.
You are starting on the same level that the best bartenders in the world got started at.
All you need is the confidence and belief that you can do it and you’re already half way home.
If you have a little bit of training or some experience already then you’re basically at the level you need to get your first job.
However, if you’re real brand new, as in haven’t ever poured a drink in your life, or maybe you don’t drink at all then here are a few options for you…
Maybe start here with the bartending basics. These videos cover everything you need to know from drinks and pouring to around the bar and how to set up, and you don’t have to fork out $300-$600 for school to learn it.
Then, be sure to have a look around the entire bartendingblueprint.com website. I built this site specifically to be a free resource full of the same information you pay for at a bartending school (I know this because I actually worked at a school for some time a while back.)
That’s also what the BartendingPro YouTube Channel is all about…It’s all the same drinks and alcohol lessons you learn at a school but available for free.
Most people think they have to go to a school (which actually looks BAD on your resume by the way…) to learn how to pour drinks or because they think they have to get a license (no such thing).
Nothing could be further from the truth. The real truth is that if you pay to go to a bartending school you will never use 75%-80% or more of the information you learn at a bartending school…but thats the topic of a different post.
For now I will leave you to explore and plant the seed that you can learn everything you need to know from our two sites; this one you’re at, and The BartendingBlueprint which is our private members area reserved for those who are serious about learning how to become a working bartender in literally just a few days from today.
